JIM TAYLOR

BARRISTER & SOLICITOR

James K. Taylor is a 2012 graduate of the University Of Alberta Faculty Of Law. He focuses his practice primarily in the area of family law and mediation.

Jim is an experienced family lawyer and understands that the difference between resolution and conflict can often be as simple as having a discussion about options. Jim has focused his practice in the areas of mediation and collaborative family law. He recognizes that in helping people going through a relationship breakdown or difficulties, he is helping them find a solution during the most difficult situations they may ever be faced with.

In today’s world people often lose the ability to control the decisions around their lives. They are often subject to the whim or suggestion of others. When dealing with the issues surrounding the breakdown of a relationship Jim feels it is very important for the people to decide for themselves how it is that they are going to set up and live for the rest of their lives.

By using tools of negotiation, discussion and mediation Jim is able to help people find satisfactory and desirable options for when they want to keep the power over their own decisions.

If given the choice, Jim always prefers the mediative or more reasonable option to the litigious one; he prides himself on his ability to find the middle ground or most practical option for the parties.

Jim has the skills needed to give practical and understandable advice while protecting the interests of his clients. He is very straightforward and timely when dealing with clients and does his best to communicate effectively.

Jim is a contributing author for the Family Law Practice Manual and his memberships include the Law Society of Alberta, International Association of Collaborative Professionals, The Collaborative Divorce Alberta Association, The Alberta Family Mediation Society and the Canadian Bar Association.
